After becoming suddenly allergic to acrylic nails, I had to somehow find a way to make my finger nails look cute again....
Through out my teenage years I had acrylic nails. They were long and always had an extravagant design on them. In my mid 20's ( I am 29 now ) I "all of a sudden" became allergic. Whenever I would have my nails done, my fingers would break out in these little red, itchy, dots, and my fingers would swell. Maybe it was just eczema? But it was unbareable. I then started to pay more money and get gel nails. After 6 months of that, the same thing would happen. I assumed that it was one of the chemicals. So after a few years I even experimented and tried to "do" them myself. Being quite the perfectionist and already very creative and crafty, I knew I'd be able to. I was right, they came out great, but once again, the same thing happened! Now I assume that I am just allergic to the super glue, or maybe that my finger nails are suffocating and cannot breath. Whatever the reason may be, I had to find a way to still make my nails LOOK CUTE! I began to obsess over nail polish.
Those of you that don't know me, I don't mean to brag, but I am pretty well put together. I have very bad obsessive compulsive disorder, in the sense that I am constantly matching things right down to the tee. Whatever color shirt I am wearing for the day, I probably have on a matching hair piece, head band, earrings, bracelets, eye make up, and sometimes even shoes and socks! With that said, if I have enough time in the morning I also change my nail polish to match my out fit for the day.
Recently I decided to try and paint zebra stripes. I actually did a great job and it didnt take as long as I imagined it would have. It was very easy because the stripes don't have to be straight and perfect, they just need to have a pattern.
Don't mind the few blotches on my skin,
I didn't touch it up before the picture!
I used Shades of the Season white polish for the base.
Then I took Kiss black polish (with the thin brush) to draw on the stripes.
To top it off with a glossy coat I used Confetti's.
This picture is a week into my mani & pedi.
As you can see, I havent changed my polish and it still looks great!
There are a few minor chips, but overall, I love the design so much that it's stuck :)
I have also recently began blogging again and I came across this amazing blog, A Polished Touch, who does her own nails and they look stunning!!! She has alot of very creative, fabulous, colorful designs that I am going to use as inspiration for my own. Please check out her blog, leave her some leave, and check out these pictures below to see her nail painting talent.
What is your favorite nail polish color or design??!!
